Subject Gangdong-gu, out-of-school youth Diversified support such as meals, transportation expenses, and examinations

Gangdong-gu (mayor Lee Jung hun), who has been at the forefront of creating a child-friendly environment, has come out this year to support the ‘out-of-school youth’, which he is particularly focused on.

The district has been implementing various support projects for out-of-school youths through the Gangdong-gu Youth Support Center, such as support for entrance exams, support for meals, and support for transportation expenses.

Gangdong-gu Youth Support Center 'Dream Dream' supports group registration for the GED for about 40 out-of-school youth who will take the first GED exam in 2022, which will be held on the 9th, while providing a lunch box coupon to support meals on the day of the exam. We support passing the GED with a support kit containing various test preparations including quarantine items, a collection of previous questions, and mentoring and special lectures.

In addition to test takers, teenagers outside of school can register at the Dream Dream Center and receive meal support. As part of the Youth Meal Support Program, support is provided to prevent overeating and improve nutritional status of out-of-school youth.

The transportation cost support project for out-of-school youth, which has been in operation for three years, is also popular as one of the main projects of the Gangdong-gu Youth Support Center.

Transportation expenses are provided to out-of-school youths between the ages of 9 and 18 who live in Gangdong-gu, in the first and second half of the year. 50,000 won per episode for 9-12 year olds and 100,000 won per episode for 13-18 year olds. If you wish to apply, you must visit the Dream Center, fill out the application form, and participate in the Dream Dream program at least twice. Applications for the first half of this year are available until June 30.

Gangdong-gu mayor Lee Jung hun said, “I hope that out-of-school youth can grow into healthy members of society through various support projects of the Gangdong-gu Youth Support Center. I will,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gangdong-gu Youth Support Center ‘Dream Dream’ operates various education, experience, and cultural programs every month, such as idea contests, Arbor Day commemorative challenges, employment special lectures, and job experiences, and is striving in various ways for the healthy growth of out-of-school youth.

If you would like to apply for related counseling and programs, please contact the Gangdong-gu Youth Support Center (☎02-6252-1329) for detailed information.
