Subject Recruitment of "Sharing Farm," a Unique Garden in Gangdong-gu, "With Neighbors."

Amid the recent trend of "sharing" in partnership with neighbors, "sharing farm," which has been operated by Gangdong-gu District Office (mayor Lee Jung hun) in Seoul since last year, is attracting attention. “Sharing Farm” is a system that shares gardens with neighbors.
It is not a common garden. The garden, modeled after a European vegetable garden (Kleingarten), has an exclusive lookout hut and an outdoor table in a separate space of 80 square meters, and you can enjoy healing and relaxation in the small garden.
It is located near the city center, so you can enjoy nature without going out far, and you can feel like camping outdoors along the Han River. You don't have to find a neighbor to be with. It automatically matches three families out of applicants by simply applying.
The nine families, who were selected last year and used three shared farms, became new neighbors with matched families, communicated frequently, and enjoyed garden activities, showing very high satisfaction with the new type of garden. This year, it will expand its scale to select 18 families for six shared farms.
Applications can only be accepted online on www.cityfarm.gangdong.go.kr for three days from the 28th of March, and participants will be selected through electronic lottery on April 1. A total of 18 families will be selected, and three families will be automatically matched to receive one shared farm. The participation fee is 100,000 won per family.
If it was burdensome to use the existing vegetable garden alone due to its large area and usage fee of 300,000 won, the "Sharing Farm" kills two birds with one stone as it saves money by using the farm with neighbors and provides a private lookout hut.
“Sharing Farm” is located in Gangil Garden (33-3 Gangil-dong), along with the existing vegetable garden. For more information, contact the Urban Agriculture Department of Gangdong-gu Office or visit at on www.cityfarm.gangdong.go.kr.
Mayor Lee Jung hun said, "With the prolonged COVID-19, the popularity of vegetable gardens is soaring day by day," adding, "I hope citizens will enjoy nature outdoors with your family and welcome a hopeful spring."
