Subject | Gangdong-gu, Seoul Artist Life Stabilization Fund. | ||
Gangdong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Jung-hun) announced on the 27th that it will provide 1 million won per artist in Seoul's life stabilization fund (the third emergency disaster support fund for artists) to artists who are unable to make a living due to the prolonged Coronavirus pandemic. This fund is for the artists registered in Gangdong-gu as of the date of announcement (January 17, 2022), and the certificate of artistic activity issued by the Korean Artist Welfare Foundation must be valid and the income of household members must be 120% or less of the standard median income. The median income of household members will be reviewed and paid based on the amount paid by health insurance in December 2021. Especially, the third support was changed from up to 1 million won per person to 1 million won in fixed amount so that more artists could benefit, including recipients who were excluded from the first round and beneficiaries of the Artist Welfare Foundation. In addition, artists who received life stabilization funds in the first and second rounds can also apply. However, artists who have been confirmed to be eligible for support are excluded from the emergency living expenses for special employment and freelancers. Artists in Gangdong-gu who wish to receive support should visit Gangdong-gu Office (Culture and Arts Department on the 4th floor) by February 7th or submit application documents through e-mail (gdmunhwa5240@gangdong.go.kr). After that, it will be paid at the end of February after registering as an artist and checking income. Lee Jung-hun, head of Gangdong-gu District Office, said, "As art activities are gradually becoming more difficult due to the prolonged COVID-19, cultural artists are having financial difficulties," adding, "I hope that the artist's life stabilization funds will help them continue their art activities." |
