Gangdong-gu conducts safety inspection of private housing and construction sites before the Lunar New Year holiday. Gangdong-gu (mayor Lee Jung hun) will conduct safety inspections on about 50 private housings and construction sites under construction in Gangdong-gu before the Lunar New Year holiday in 2022. This safety inspection is to discover and resolve risk factors at private housing and construction sites where there is a high risk of accidents and many on-site hazards are scattered, and to raise safety awareness among construction site officials and management subjects in advance. Especially, as the likelihood of safety accident skyrockets before vacations as unreasonable schedules of construction are set due to imminent holidays, large housing and construction sites where large construction machinery and heavy equipment are frequently operated with more than 10,000 square meters of floor space should pay more attention to safety. The inspection will be conducted jointly by experts in the construction field from both government offices and civil organisations, for example, from the Gangdong-gu Construction Safety Advisory Group. Minor matters will be immediately corrected at site. In addition, strong correction orders such as administrative measures by officials will be implemented for sites where criticism has occurred repeatedly and habitually, and additional safety inspections will be conducted from time to time to check for improvement. Mayor Lee Jung hun, head of Gangdong-gu Office, said, "We plan to expand and conduct safety inspections including housing construction sites and reconstruction and redevelopment sites in addition to private construction sites.
