Mayor Lee Jung Hun of Gangdong-gu stated on the 16th of December that Gangdong-gu won at The 2021 Korea Public Design Awards, conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, and progressed by the Korea Craft & Design Foundation. The award was given for the project, 'Gangdong Safety Road Design Manual Extention' on the part of non-voluntarily. The Korea Public Design Awards meets its 14th anniversary this year as a contest representing the sphere of public design, seeking examples of quality and serving adequate standards to the basics of public design. The part where Gangdong-gu was awarded was adopted as a new part in 2019 to find great examples hard to find among volunteered work. This year, the award for this part was given on the goal of the realization of public design for safety. The Gangdong Safety Road Design Manual Extention received high points for making an environment that blocks crimes in dark, old streets in advance and therefore forms a safe town. Also, it was especially highly graded for the design manual created by Gangdong separately, and the fact that it was progressed by the cooperation of the residents, the Gangdong Police Center, and related experts. Mayor Lee Jung Hun noted, "It is much more meaningful that this project was held by the harmony of both the experts and our residents. Furthermore, we will work hard to find areas easy to get targeted in making crimes and actively adopt the safety public designs." |
