Subject Gangdong-gu Complex Cultural Space, Dadok Dadok is gaining popularity.

In front of a large apartment complex in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, a unique building was shown in the middle of six schools, including two elementary schools. It is a place where the old commercial building is repaired, with the whole window with a panoramic view of the street attracts attention. A fluffy sofa-type chair is set toward the window and there is a space decorated like an indoor playground for children.

At the entrance to the first floor, there is a coffee machine and, in the backyard, there is a screen for sending out videos, tables, and chairs for gathering. After the space is closed, only places where books can be borrowed and returned, like the bank's 365 automatic teller machine, is operated separately.

Gangdong-gu is expanding its playground and rest area, a complex cultural space where books and cars and rest are together. It is a book cafe library called Dadok Dadok. As the name suggests, it is a space designed to make people meet and become affectionate through books and tea. Unlike ordinary quiet and solemn libraries, you can drink tea, chat, rest or sleep without books.

Godeokjeom, which opened on the 22nd, is the fourth book cafe library to be introduced. The building, which had been neglected for a long time, was renovated into a facility that could attract attention, and tea and drinks purchased from outside were allowed to be brought in for co-prosperity with nearby commercial districts. On a total of four floors, from the first basement floor to the third floor above ground, there are 6,000 books that can be enjoyed by various age groups, from infants and elementary books to general books.

Gangdong-gu previously opened its first Dadok Dadok store at Gildong Intersection in September last year and opened its second store at the Ancient Tombs Traditional Market in Cheonho-dong in the first half of this year. The third store built a nest on Gucheon-myeon-ro, which is being transformed into a street that people want to walk.

Although it is grouped under the name of Dadok Dadok, each library has a different charm. Parents who shop at traditional markets leave their children for a while, rest their tired legs, and so-called "Kagong people" who study at cafes camp out all day. It also sells products from social economy companies and workshops, and supports courses and small groups for nearby residents.

Each space is decorated by applying the "Color of the Year" announced annually by world-class companies. The so-called spatial welfare concept of welfare for residents was applied throughout public facilities. In the sense that "books are vitamins of the mind," he also nicknamed "Gangdong-gu Library is a book vitamin."

A manager was assigned along with a professional librarian to entrust the operation. This is why various programs such as dementia prevention lectures with the Residents' Self-Governing Council and bookmark making with fallen leaves continue.

Gangdong-gu is in full swing to open its fifth store in Amsa General Market at the end of this month and open its sixth store in Gil-dong. Finally, the government plans to expand the number to 10 so that residents can use the space within a 5-10 minute walk from their homes. Dadok Dadok Godeok branch is located between large-scale apartment complexes, residential areas, and schools, so many residents will use it, said Lee Jung hun, head of Gangdong-gu Office. "We will thoroughly promote various space creation projects, including Book Cafe Library."
