Subject Support "Mind Health Check-Up" for Residents Suffering from COVID-19 Blue

Gangdong-gu announced on the 24th of this month that it will provide "mind health checkups" and counseling expenses for the mental health of residents suffering from "COVID-19 Blue." The district explained that the project is aimed at detecting mental health risk factors early in the face of an increasing number of people suffering from depression and anxiety, also known as “COVID-19 Blue”, and helping them return to their daily lives before COVID-19 through counseling.

Those eligible for support are residents of Gangdong-gu aged 19 or older, and when they receive a mental health examination or counseling at a designated medical institution in the district, they will receive medical expenses up to three times.

After making a reservation by phone at a medical institution, visit with an ID card and get the first screening test for depression and evaluation for mental health. If judged as a dangerous group, you can receive additional counseling once or twice. If you are undergoing psychiatric treatment at a medical institution or have a history of receiving support for the same project from another institution, you will be excluded from the support.

If you are in a high-risk group that needs specialized treatment such as medication, you will be guided to continue receiving treatment by switching to general treatment (occurrence of your own charges). For more information, contact to Health Promotion Department of Gangdong-gu Health (02-3425-6765).

Mayor Lee Jung hun at Gangdong-gu District Office said, "The prolonged COVID-19 has increased psychological anxiety and emotional isolation of residents, but many people are reluctant to go to the hospital due to social prejudice and burden of medical expenses." He also said, “We will do our best to lower the threshold for psychiatric treatment through the mental health examination and counseling support project and to help more residents receive treatment when they need it"
