Subject Gangdong trip for crafts, festivals for local craftsmen and residents centered on workshops

While Korea Craft Week events were held from October 1 to 10 all over the country, in Gangdong-gu, Gucheon-myeon-ro Workshop successfully held the entire craft week under the theme of 'Journey to Gangdong with crafts'. This craft week was held in the form of informing residents of various craft activities through a craft market where studios, who are having a harder time than ever, find their presence in the Corona 19 situation, as well as a kit making experience program held in a small scale within the workshop.

Jeong Ji-seon (Seongnae-dong), who participated in the lease making at the flower workshop 'Moramento' located in Gucheon-myeon-ro on October 6th, said, "The picture of the work is so beautiful that I wanted to make it as soon as the application site opened. Although it was my first-time making it, it was easy and fun.” he said.

The 'Ondo City Cooperative', which is in charge of operating Gucheon-myeon-ro workshop, is a gathering of craftsmen who started on the Angel Workshop Street. Park Gyeong-sun, president of the association, said, "Gucheon-myeon-ro workshop is the concept of a support center for craftsmen in Gangdong-gu. Most of the workshops are run by themselves, so there are many craftsmen who find it difficult to do various tasks such as public relations, tax and market development, so we need to activate the network. We support craftsmen to show synergy among themselves.”

Shin Han-byul, the workshop manager, said, "Including the 150 people who attended the craft week, even the residents who visited the market were exposed to the new space of Gucheon-myeon-ro. We will continue to develop programs so that the Gucheon-myeon-ro workshop not only supports craftsmen but also contributes to the revitalization of Gucheon-myeon-ro."
