Subject Gangdong-gu provides masks to 2,500 people to improve the working environment of workers in apartment houses.

Gangdong-gu, Seoul (mayor Lee Jung hun) enacted the "Gangdong-gu Ordinance on the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights of Multi-Housing Workers" in March, to protect the labor rights and interests of multi-homed workers, making various efforts to improve the working environment of multi-homed workers.

Previously, Gangdong-gu has been steadily carrying out activities to protect workers' rights and interests through the 'Gangdong Labor Rights Center', including lots of projects such as 'labor law counseling and relief of rights, support for fostering small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, emotional labor psychological counseling, worker culture and welfare support, Gangdong-gu labor network support project and research on various labor policies.'

As part of this workers support project, Gangdong-gu recently conducted a survey on the status of workers in apartment complexes and demand for quarantine supplies, and based on the results of the survey, Gangdong-gu announced on the 18th that they will provide 10 health masks per person to about 2,500 workers in apartment complexes by October 8th.

In addition, Gangdong-gu plans to come up with practical measures to promote rights and interests for workers who have been alienated from the protection of labor laws through a recent survey of workers in apartment houses amid the poor working environment.

Mayor Lee Jung hun, head of the district office, said, "The prolonged COVID-19 is increasing the number of parcels and expanding the scope of management such as quarantine in public spaces," adding, "We hope that support for quarantine supplies will help create a safe working environment."
