Subject Gangdong-gu, maintenance of on-the-road parking lots in the children's protection zone

Gangdong-gu, Seoul, announced on the 26th that it will overhaul all on-the-road parking lots in the child protection zone from October 1 under the revision of the Parking Lot Act and the Road Traffic Act.

Recently, parents have continued to make suggestions on the pedestrian environment on school roads to prevent the risk of children's traffic accidents in the school zone.

The key contents of the revised law are the complete ban on parking and parking in child protection zones and the abolition of on-road parking lots.

The maintenance target of the on-the-road parking lot in the Gangdong-gu Children's Protection Zone is 288 parking areas in 15 protected areas. The parking lot will be renovated as of October 1.

In order to resolve the parking difficulties caused by the abolition of on-the-road parking lots, the district plans to work more actively to minimize inconvenience to residents by expanding small parking lots in residential areas, revitalizing shared parking, and supporting the demolition of fences.

Citizens will expect positive effects such as more comfortable walking by children and solving parking difficulties. Accordingly, the district will have to do its best to reorganize.
Recently, voices to prepare for accidents in the school zone has grown, so I think the maintenance of parking facilities in Gangdong-gu was an appropriate policy in line with the times.

"We look forward to a significant improvement in the walking environment for children through the maintenance of the on-the-road parking lot in the children's protection zone," said mayor Lee Jung hun.
