Adolescents of Gangdong-gu go to English camping with native speakers! Gangdong-gu holds a ‘camping which ables people to experience Foreign language(Foreign language experience camping)’ in ‘Gangdong greenway family camping ground’ for 4 days including this upcoming Thursday(20). Adolescents can develop their ability to work by theirselves and learn how to communicate, and have cooperation between peers by participating exploration activities, cooking class, team match play competition, etc with mentors of native speakers. Last Monday, one student who participated in this camping gave her/his opinion that usually she/he had vague fear of English speaking, but while talking and playing games with native mentors and friends, she/he gained confidence. Experience program this time is held until 10AM to 3PM for students of the jurisdiction of four middle schools. It is expected to be an opportunity to gain confidence and have global mind about foreign language. District(Gu) manages not only foreign language experience camping but also ‘Gangdong global foreign language festival’ and supports ‘창의인성융합camp’ for the first time in this year. It supports part of entry fee of Pungnap-dong’s ‘*창의인성융합camp’ which Seoul manages for kindergarten and elementary students. Last March, it recruited 3000 students of 20 kindergartens and 9 elementary schools who showed their intention to participate for survey of demand. It holds a program for people to learn unfamiliar, hard Foreign languages naturally and interestingly. This upcoming November, Gangdong-gu is plaanning to hold a ‘Gangdong global foreign language festival’ which people of all ages can participate. It is expected that this festival will be a unique event to learn various countries’ culture and experience foreign language. 이해식, who is a head of Gangdong-gu said, “This time’s foreign language experience camping will be an opportunity for our kids to gain confidence and develop our ability of self-expression. We will keep trying our best to support adolescents to grow up as creative global leader who understands diversity in multicultural era.” *창의인성융합camp is a camp which helps people to develop their creativity and personality.
