Subject | Story of the Cats living on Gangdong-Office's Roof | ||
Cute and adorable cats of various colours gathered up on Sung-ahn annex. We don't know where they were born or where the come from, but these cats are cuddling on to each other with love and joy, healing their scars from the past. This is a story about a stray-cat-protection centre 'Eo-Ul Swim-Teo' located on the Gangdong-Gu's annex rooftop. The Term 'Eo-Ul' meaning 'different beings living in harmony in a solitary place.' was held up on the centre's front as a sign. All wishing for the cats with different characters, appearances and stories to cope well with each other. Moreover, with wishes for all beings including us, humans to coexist in harmony. 'Stray-cat Eo-Ul Swim-Teo' is a place where cats that are either very young or hurt 'pass by' before they 'heal their wounds' and be adopted by someone willing to care for them. With the financial aids from Hyundai Construction Inc, Go-duk Redevelopment contractor, the centre was built as Prefab Containers, capable of holding upto 15 cats at once. With growing awareness in the medium, more assets are being brought into Eo-Ul Swim-Teo. Good people are lending hands for our cats. From a construction company offering to build safety fences to companies that actually built cat towers, the list goes on. Catmoms living in Gangdong are volunteering to take care of the centre too. Even students from Gangdong Highschool and Seonsa highschool and several companies' employees are volunteering to clean the centre. They clean out the cats' loos, refill the bowls with catfood and water. They all agreeingly conclude that these activites make themselves feel better too. Isn't this the scenery of animals and humans living in harmony? Recently, Gangdong-Gu has launched an unprecedented official animal blog, run by the animal healthcare team, The aim of this blog is to gather information on domestic animals and animal healthcare. The name 'Gangdong-Gu Rooftop Story> comes from the care centre's name, 'Stray-cat Eo-Ul Swim-Teo' and implies the meaning of humans and animals living in harmony on the cozy rooftop. 'Gangdong-Gu Rooftop Story(http://blog.naver.com/gd_animal)' In the blog, you can see 5 major categories. News, Domestic Animals, Straycat Cafeteria, Adoption Campaign and Town Info. The blog introduces several animal healthcare policies and conventions and also detailed info on different animals to aid those who are caring for one. 61 Stray-cat Cafeterias' Locations, Volunteer administration and Adoption Campaigns are planned to be held on this blog too. With Local infos on Animal Hospitals, Medical Centre, and Pet Cafes. We wish for this blog to thrive further than just communicating with the animal families to raising awareness of the need for animal healthcare and the significance of any living things. And thats why life is beautiful. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” -Mahatma Gandhi- Gangdong-Gu is going to willingly participate in the effort to appreciate the values of life fully. |
