Subject Godeokcheon-Energymaru, operation and program guide

We are running Godeokcheon-Energymaru, located at the downstream of Godeokcheon!
Godeokcheon-Energymaru is a energy center that opened up last September.
It has five different game booths; solar, wind, water, power, and bio-energy. By this, and the outdoor displays and the controllable amusement facilities, children can experience first-hand the fundamental principle of how renewable energy is made an its immense value, along with the information related with energy cycle.
Godeokcheon-Energymaru’s biggest feature is that it’s not like other “tours” whose sole purpose is to teach and explain. It is a place where one can experience and feel the connection with the energy problem.
It provides programs that are set accordingly to each child’s age. The programs vary for kindergarteners, children in early elementary school, higher grade students of elementary school, and for the 7th and 8th graders.
First, for kindergarteners, they can hear and listen to stories and tales with dolls, by this they can have positive image of renewable energy. Then they would go on a ‘energy treasure hunt’ and help them to think of ways to save energy in every they life.
For children in elementary school, the programs will go on like a small tournament, with the kids divided into teams. The participating students will go into each booth and fully understand about each energy. After all these there will be a quiz to let them know how important it is to figure out a real solution to the energy relate problems, and get a chance to think about what they can do to contribute to this.
Finally, for the middle school students, they get to design and materialize a ‘energy-independent village’ considering our actual environment and society of Gangdong-gu. With this they can feel it in their heart the necessity and the pros and cons of a ‘Energy-independent village’.
What is more, older kids starting from 4th grade, can make solar water fountains, solar electric condensers, LED lights and more! They get to have the time to realize that we can enhance our local citizens’ life without any fossil fuels.
You can reserve Godeokcheon-Energymaru’s programs in groups of 20 to 30, and it opens two times every day at 10 am and 2 pm.
